The Hospice Action Network is delighted to introduce Mark Slobodien, our new Director of Legislative Affairs. A message from Mark:

“I am writing today to introduce myself to the hospice and palliative care community.  My name is Mark Slobodien and I am the new Director of Legislative Affairs at the Hospice Action Network (HAN) and National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO).  I am excited to be a member of both the HAN and NHPCO teams.  I look forward to working with the provider community as well as advocating before federal and state governmental bodies for integrated and patient-centered care at the end of life.  I have seen family members who suffered at the end of their lives and believe that both hospice and palliative care provide the right level of care at the right time.

I come to the hospice and palliative care community from the Legal Services Corporation, where I was able to advocate for funding increases of legal aid programs that serve thousands of low-income individuals, children, families, seniors, and veterans across the nation.  I have law degree and over 10 years of legislative affairs experience including three years on Capitol Hill.  You may see me walking around Old Town Alexandria with my wife Rachael, my daughter Anna Claire, and my King Charles Spaniel, Winston Churchill.”
