A benefit that is primarily administered in the home, Hospice provides quality and compassionate end-of-life care to people facing life-limiting illnesses of all ages. There are approximately 1.4 million patients throughout the nation currently benefiting from hospice care. Largely funded by Medicare, hospice is acutely affected by any legislative changes to the benefits outlined in the Medicare payment structure The Hospice Action Network (HAN) works diligently to stay informed about and educate Congress on the impact of these policies on their constituents at home. HAN is comprised of NHPCO Public Policy staff, professional hospice advocates and the 60,000+ Hospice Advocates representing every state and territory in the U.S.
